Contact the Author : Beyond Walden: The Hidden History of America's Kettle Lakes and Ponds.
I'm quite approachable, by phone, email, snail mail, and in person, especially if you live in southern New England during most of the year, or in Minnesota during July.
Pouring Walden Pond water into Lake Wobegon (it's stand-in, Middle Spunk Lake) was only half of the publicity stunt designed to draw media attention.
-- Kirkus Reviews: "The author’s enthusiasm shines through as he uses personal experience, literary references and the history ofAmerican popular culture ."
-- Beyond Walden: “Thanks to my college buddy and traveling companion, Harlan J. Brooker Jr., who accompanied me on innumerable lake sojourns. ” [page 230]
PHOTO BANNER : Though I occasionally make it to the Dakotas, I've never given a book-talk there. My books are launched at the excellent independent bookstore on campus nearwhere this photo was taken, one of the last in a dying breed. I give presentations to community groups, environmental organizations, and colleges throughout New England, but never bring my kettle drum.
